Vocabulary Practice

Some of you did terribly on the vocabulary test today.  I think you know who you are.

    The white lies may not harm people's feelings.

    Excessive anxiety can cause a lot of dieseases, such as high blood pressure and sleep-deprived.

    Doctors should be responsible for their diagnosis.

    All people should follow the traffic regulation

    1. 4. Not the right use of the word "clog." We'd say "due to the high number of traffic jams,..."

      5. Having an obese parent puts a child at increased risk of obesity.

    2. Trend: I am a huge fan of Apple, so I believe the Apple Inc. will continue changing the technological trend of the world.
    3. Nutrient: We must get nutrient food to eat, so that we can be healthier and healthier.
    4. Genes: There are lots of information in our genes which can control many things, like skin color, tall or short, fat or thin etc.
    5. Obese: Fast food can make people obese, which is bad for people's health.
    6. Sleep-deprived: In my experience, the medicine named "Sleep Aid" is good for people who are sleep-deprived.
    7. Crave: He craved to be paid attention, so he did a very bad thing which made him into the jail.
    8. Guzzle: We cannot guzzle because it is bad for our health.
    9. Notorious: In the Harry Potter, a bad wizard named Voldemort is notorious, however, he died at the end of the story.
    10. Soar: Price will soar when monetary crisis is coming.

    Parking is banned in some streets.

    2.- Consumption
    The purpose of this article is teach you about the effects of alcohol consumption.

    3.- and 4.- Lifestyle and Sedentary
    Your lifestyle have been sedentary for the last 2 years.

    Lauren was always overweight, but later became obese.

    6.- Anxiety
    I used to feel anxiety before a performance.

    7.- Excess
    The airlines will increase their charges for excess baggage.

    8.- Partial
    Yesterday, there was a partial eclipse of the moon.

    9.- Elastic
    The elastic band broke when I tried to put me my point shoe.

    The police handcuffed the thief because he became hostile.

    1. 1. The meaning is correct, but "ban" is too strong a word in this situation. We'd say parking is "not allowed," or "restricted" on this street, not "banned."

    1- Smoking is banned in most universities .

    2- Today people are getting more and more obese

    3- I fell dizzy when i do not understand something.

    4- The new trend today is the consumption of the renewal energy.

    5- Saturated food is not good for the well being.

    6-people who have sedentary lifestyle are exposed to the cardiovascular diseases
